Research highlights
▶ In this work, the La1.4Ca1.6Mn2O7 double perovskite manganite compound was prepared by the sol–gel method and sintered at 1273, 1473 and 1673 K. The sintering temperature effect on the structural and the magnetic properties has been investigated. ▶ The lattice parameters, the crystallite-size and grain size were affected by sintering temperature. ▶ Due to increase in the crystallite-size and grain size the magnetic properties (the Curie temperature, magnetization and magnetic entropy) have changed accordingly.
